Make Your Wedding Dreams A Reality With Hog Roast Saltaire!

For Saltaire locals, Victoria Hall is the crown jewel of the village. First opened in 1871 by Sir Titus Salt, as a ‘centre for recreation, culture and learning’ for villagers, Victoria Hall has blossomed into a popular events space, filming location and venue for birthday parties, craft markets and, of course, weddings!

Phil and Rosie were the latest to tie the knot in this iconic setting, surrounded by 150 of their nearest and dearest. We’re delighted to say that Hog Roast Saltaire also received an invite and were asked to take charge of the menu for the evening.

Our catering manager, Jon, did us proud, rustling up a whole-roasted free-range hog in time for the 7:30pm serve. The meat, which had been slow-roasted for several hours over a low flame, was mouth-wateringly tender and practically fell apart at the touch of a fork. To elevate the savoury-sweetness of the pork, we served herby sage and onion stuffing on the side, as well as tangy applesauce made from fresh apples and a hint of sugar to balance out the tartness. But the real hero on everyone’s plates? Of course it was the crackling! Crisp, bubbly and separated with a loud snap, this moreish snack was impossible to resist.

Maximising the flavour of this feast, Hog Roast Saltaire also prepared tomato and mozzarella salad, mixed salad, coleslaw and new potatoes tossed in herbs, with optional gravy and a selection of sauces and seasonings for guests to help themselves to.

And don’t worry, meat eaters weren’t the only ones dining like royalty at this shindig! Hog Roast Saltaire made sure our veggie and vegan guests were well taken care of by serving up our bright and colourful grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers. Courgette, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes – you name it, we packed a whole lot of flavour onto each wooden skewer. On the side, guests were able to build their plates with flatbreads, tzatziki dip and punchy sweet chilli sauce.

We had a blast catering this event, but more importantly, our clients were thrilled with the results. From the speedy service to the quality of the food, Phil and Rosie were left feeling extremely happy with their decision to have Hog Roast Saltaire cater their big day!
