When Rachael and Connor chose to tie the knot at Left Bank in Leeds, they weren’t just booking a venue – they were making a bold, beautiful statement. This historic church-turned-progressive-events space is the ultimate blank canvas, and back in May, this creative couple made it their own with classic florals, joyful guests, and one seriously unforgettable wedding feast served by yours truly!
Hog Roast Filey was hired by this lovely couple to serve our ever-popular Southern Slow Roast Menu – and we brought the heat to match the sun-soaked spring day. With 100 guests gathered under the soaring ceilings and out on the lush grounds, the air was rich with the mouthwatering aroma of sizzling meats, spices, and comfort food classics.
Guests were treated to a spread that would make any Southern pitmaster proud: fiery Cajun whole-roasted chickens, sticky Louisiana-style ribs, succulent BBQ pork butt, and a dreamy vegan pulled jackfruit for the plant-based foodies. It was bold, bountiful, and bursting with flavour in every bite.
Of course, no Southern spread is complete without the perfect assortment of sides, and Hog Roast Filey nailed it. Crispy mixed sweet potato and classic fries laid the groundwork for buttery charred corn cobbettes, each kernel popping with smoky sweetness. The mac and cheese, topped with a golden, flame-kissed crust, delivered ooey-gooey bliss in every bite. And to balance all those hearty wholesome flavours, we served up a selection of refreshing salad combos – ripe tomatoes, crumbly feta, briny olives, and crisp cucumber – in chic bamboo bowls for self-serve delight.
The guests were also free to customise their plates with gluten-free and wholemeal rolls, an array of dipping sauces, and piquant relishes, ensuring every taste bud danced. This laid-back buffet style encouraged mingling: friends old and new meandering between outdoor picnic benches, plates piled high, and laughter echoing off the stone walls.
Most importantly, Rachael and Connor could simply be newlyweds – no fretting over logistics as the Hog Roast Filey team orchestrated seamless service from start to finish. With no detail overlooked, the happy couple soaked up every moment, from the first savoury bite to the last crumb.
