Hog Roast Pocklington Had A Brilliant Time At An Agricultural Show!

Hog Roast PocklingtonOur Hog Roast Pocklington catering team had a brilliant time on Saturday! Thanks to community event organiser, Alfie, we had been given the heads up that an agricultural show was taking place nearby, and since our diary was clear that day, we thought we’d attend and serve our famous mouth-watering hog roast rolls to the crowds.

Hog Roast Pocklington’s catering manager, Jon, was on top form as usual as he led the team that day. As soon as they pulled up to the venue at 7 am, they threw themselves into preparations by pitching the catering gazebo in an easily accessible location for the guests before firing up the Hogmaster and hoisting the weighty pig onto the grill, where it was immersed in a deep layer of our savoury sage and onion stuffing and left to sizzle and spit its way to perfection.

Using a sharp knife, Jon expertly scored the skin of the meat and rubbed it down with salt, which is what creates the perfectly crisp crackling we are well known for! Hog Roast Pocklington’s next task was to whip up a batch of sweet and zesty applesauce and set out the condiments, dips and a basket of gluten-free and wholemeal rolls and wraps. In case of any non-meat-eating guests, our team also made sure to prepare some BBQ pulled jackfruit, which they served on rolls with vegan coleslaw.

By the time the meat was ready to be carved, the open-air venue was teaming with life. All around Hog Roast Pocklington, there was livestock being led from one pen to the next for a variety of competitions and challenges, children screamed with delight as they bounced on the bouncy castles or used the bungee jump. Plus, there were also equine and craft programmes for people of all ages, and for the gearheads, agricultural motors were displayed around the venue.

With lots of activities to keep everyone busy, the guests were extremely glad to see Hog Roast Pocklington serving up tasty hog roast baps, which were tender, juicy, full of flavour and made using local ingredients – some of which had come from the farms being represented at this event!
