With Beetlejuice making a comeback in cinemas after over thirty-five years, it’s no surprise that the quirky, supernatural comedy has become all anyone can talk about. And for 13-year-old Sophie, a huge fan of the film, it was the perfect theme for her birthday party. Her mum, Sharon, went all out to make the celebration as magical as possible and hired Hog Roast Darley to help with the catering!
Sharon’s dedication to the theme was truly impressive. The house was decked out with black, green, and white balloons that perfectly captured the film’s eerie yet fun vibe. The pièce de résistance was a homemade cardboard sandworm that snaked its way through the party space—talk about a showstopper! To top it all off, Sharon had prepared a grazing table filled with spooky treats, setting the stage for a truly immersive Beetlejuice experience.
When it came to the birthday feast, Hog Roast Darley was ready to deliver a menu that was just as captivating as the decor. Our catering manager, Jon, was in charge of preparing our Southern Slow Roast Menu, and, as always, he knocked it out of the park with a trio of succulent meats that had been pre-marinated in our secret blend of rubs, ensuring maximum flavour. By the time the 3 pm serving time rolled around, the aroma of the slow-roasted meats alone had everyone drooling!
The Cajun-spiced whole roasted chickens were juicy and packed with flavour, while the fall-off-the-bone Louisiana sticky pork ribs were a standout hit. The pulled minted lamb was tender and delicious, making sure no one was left hungry.
For the veggie and vegan guests, Jon had prepared grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers served with a refreshing tzatziki dip and fluffy flatbreads. The sides were equally scrumptious, featuring corn on the cob dripping with melted butter, mixed sweet potato and traditional fries, and a hearty serving of mac and cheese. Each bite was met with enthusiastic approval from the guests.
As if the feast wasn’t enough, Sharon had also arranged for a local bakery to create a Beetlejuice-themed birthday cake. After Sophie blew out her candles, Hog Roast Darley was delighted to slice and serve the cake, complete with fresh berries and cream. It was the perfect sweet ending to a spooktacular celebration!
